I should have posted this an awful long time ago when I hit the problem, I just revisited today to see if a revised version had appeared.
I was sending "failed to validate" form input to a gmail account reserved for that function so I could see it was working OK.
I kept getting some seemingly "good" messages in there, one common theme was most were AOL users.
The underlying concepts of the class are great, pity it seems to have been abandoned.
